Fender’s Pan-Man Telecaster is After My Gen X Heart
Fender unveiled its most nostalgic guitar yet this spring — the Fender Pac-Man Player II Telecaster — for a modern-day price of $1,099. Of course I want it! Of course it takes me back to playing Pac-Man at People’s Drugstore with my dad (in the early 1980s), and later, in countless mall arcades.
The guitar, stemming from a partnership with Bandai Namco to celebrate their classic game, PAC-MAN, graces the body of the Fender Player II Telecaster. The guitar features a Modern “C”-profile neck, a 9.5″-radius fingerboard with rolled edges, 22 medium jumbo frets — with a graphic of the iconic PAC-MAN game on the front and the classic PAC-MAN logo on the back.
Player Series Alnico V Single-Coil Tele® pickups deliver crystalline highs, musical mids and tight lows, while a 3-way blade switch, 6-saddle bridge, and ClassicGear™ tuners are designed to ensure precise tuning stability.
Fender’s also releasing a bunch of merch and accessories, too (available here) for those who may not want to shell out for the axe just yet.
Let’s hope the folks release a Ms. Pac-Man guitar next!
