Mom Meghan Trainor Cancels Entire Tour to Prioritize Family (We Get It!)
Meghan Trainor reminded us how hard it is to be a musician while raising three young kids when she cancelled her entire headlining tour on Friday.
In a letter to fans, Trainor explained that “after a lot of reflection and some really tough conversations”, she realized balancing the release of a new album, preparing for a nationwide tour, and welcoming “our new baby girl into our growing family of five” was too much.
”I need to be home and present for each and all of them at this time,” the singer, 32, wrote. “I know this will come as a disappointment to my fans, and I am so sorry to let you down. But I know this is the right decision for my family and me right now. I promise I’ll be back soon.”
While Trainor’s fans will have to wait to see her strut across the stage, the “Get in Girl” singer made a laudable decision – and a relatable one. It is near-impossible for most moms like me to go on tour because of our extensive family commitments. Not everyone has the resources or support network to rent or buy a big camper van to take their kids with them on tour.
While other moms like Cardi B seem to make it work, most of us don’t have her resources, like nannies, staff, and managers, to handle things like putting kids to bed or taking them to soccer practice. Most parents only have so much to give of ourselves in a day, a week, or a month. Most of us don’t have round-the-clock domestic help and access to 24/7 childcare.
Even with abundant help, the early years of a child’s life are precious — and we never get them back. Now that my sons are teens, i miss the hugs and cuddles and cuteness of their 3-year-old selves more than ever (though I love hanging out with them now!).
It’s refreshing to see a musician so transparent about mental health and the juggle (and struggles) of mom life. Thanks for sharing, Meghan. We can’t wait for you to get in, girl!

Definitely a important topic in this ever changing world of music. Trainor’s decision had to be a difficult one and I applaud her honesty and integrity.
