Famous Musician Moms and Their Signature Guitars
If the recent NAMM Conference is any indication, the future of guitar is female — sometimes with kids in tow. Here are several of our favorite signature guitar models from famous musician moms that are perfect for newcomers and seasoned players.
Nita Strauss Ibanez JIVA10 Signature Electric Guitar
Mom-to-be Nita Strauss (whose first child is due this summer!) unveiled her first signature guitar in 2018, and girl, is it a beauty! The Nita Strauss JIVA10 electric guitar by Ibanez is based on the S Series and features Strauss’ own personal touches, such as her signature “Pandemonium” pickups by DiMarzio and the special “Beaten Path” fingerboard inlay. The guitar’s finish was personally named by her as Deep Space Blonde, which is a gray burst on a natural quilted maple top. The name she chose for the guitar — JIVA — translates to one’s “soul,” a word found in Asian religions, and one that has a deep personal connection with Strauss as well. ($1699 via Guitar Center)
Nancy Wilson Epiphone Fanatic Electric Guitar
Heart’s leading shredder lady is my guitar icon, and a rockmommy of two. Her Epiphone signature model, unveiled in 2021, features an original compact, comfortable Nighthawk mahogany body and a figured maple veneer top. The Epiphone Nancy Wilson Fanatic comes equipped with ProBucker™ humbuckers, a 5-way pickup selector switch for a wide variety of tonal options, master volume and tone controls, a fast-playing rounded C profile mahogany neck with an ebony fretboard, and features an attractive Fireburst Gloss finish. Chrissie Hynde Fender Telecaster Electric Guitar
The founding member of the rock band The Pretenders and the band’s lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter, Chrissie Hynde is an icon. The Fender Chrissie Hynde Telecaster is, too. The Iced Metallic Blue beauty comes with a chrome pickguard, perfectly road worn to mimic Chrissie’s beloved original. Also included: vintage-style ’50s Tele pickups. ($1,999 via Sweetwater)
Susan Tedeschi Fender Telecaster Electric Guitar
Blues guitar slayer and rockmommy Susan Tedeschi, who plays in Tedeschi Trucks Band with musician husband Derek Trucks, unleashed her first signature guitar in 2024, with Fender, inspired by her 1993 Standard Telecaster, in “aged Caribbean mist.” The Susan Tedeschi Telecaster’s features include a lightweight alder body (equipped with a modernized 6-saddle bridge with block steel saddles for intonation adjustment); a Modern “C” profile maple neck with a 9.5-inch-radius slab rosewood fingerboard, and 22 medium-jumbo frets. ($1,899 via Sweetwater)
Lari Basilio Ibanez LB1 Electric Guitar
Brazilian guitarist and rockmommy Lari Basilio’s newly released Ibanez LB1-BK features all of the bells and whistles of the original (in purple), with a sleek nocturnal vibe. The musician mom’s solid-body electric guitar’s features include Ash wood body, a roasted maple neck, one humbucking pickup, two single-coil pickups, and a Gotoh Tremolo. ($3,249 via Sweetwater)
Fatoumata Diawara signature Epiphone SG
In early 2026, Gibson announced the launch of the Fatoumata Diawara signature Epiphone SG, making the musician mom the first woman of color to receive an Epiphone signature guitar. Her signature SG model guitar features a mahogany body topped with her signature graphic, a set mahogany neck with a Custom C profile, and a bound rosewood fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and pearloid trapezoid inlays. Margo Price J-45 Gibson acoustic guitar
The Margo Price J-45 acoustic guitar from Gibson, created with players like me in mind, is a true beauty, featuring a stunning red-tailed hawk design featured on the double pickguards. The guitar, released in March, is finished in a gorgeous Heritage Cherry Sunburst, and comes fully equipped with L.R. Baggs electronics, so it’s studio and stage ready right out of the included hardshell case, according to Gibson. Margo, a mom of two, drew inspiration inspired by Red-tailed Hawks, which feature prominently on the distinctive double 50s-style pickguards of her new J-45 signature guitar.
