Courteney Cox’s Drumming Videos Are Killing it Right Now

When 61-year-old actor Courteney Cox took up drums not too long ago, I thought it was cute — you know, like in the way that Phoebe on Friends strums chords and sings “Smelly Cat.” But after watching Cox play along with Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” I realized this is no simple midlife crisis. Cox is killing it, as OG Nirvana drummer and current Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl would probably say, proving that it’s never too late to pick up a new instrument.

Cox isn’t the first actor mom to dabble into her rocker roots after hitting 40 — and being past her “prime” in the traditional sense. Just last year, actor and mom of three Kate Hudson released her first solo album, and played a handful of hotspots in LA and NYC.

However, actor moms rarely take up music and play gigs after hitting 40, when compared with actor dads (like Johnny Depp, who fronts the celeb-studded band Hollywood Vampires).
