Fyütch and 7-Year-Old Daughter Aura V’s Full-Length Album is a Celebration in ‘Harmony’
In music, harmony is a pleasing or balanced arrangement of parts — and for New York family music artist Fyütch, it is the heart for an even bigger endeavor with his 7-year-old daughter Aura V. The daddy-duo’s first full-length album, Harmony, out May 23rd, is a years-in-the-making celebration of self-love, family, friendship, and community, infused with good beats, bright melodies, and cool collaborations.
“I’m extremely proud of it,” says Fyütch of the song, which began as a concept for the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts to create three original songs for ages 2-7. “[It’s] easily one of my favorites in my discography and really honored that the American Songwriter Contest and International Songwriting Contest awarded us first place in the Children’s category.”
Besides “Harmony,” my favorites, so far: the upbeat, humorous jam “My Daddy” with fellow kid musician VanVan and her dad Reggie, and the rock n’ roll, Broadway-ready “The Greatest Song Ever” (with Genevieve Goings).
We recently caught up with the daddy-daughter duo to learn more about that song (and others), cool guest collaborations, and what’s next for this summer.

Rockmommy: Hi Fyütch and Aura! It’s so exciting to learn you have a full length LP coming out! When did the idea of doing a full album occur to you both?
Aura: Hmmm… That is a very hard question. I actually think that we were planning to have an album before, but like, it was the first song that we ever did, we weren’t thinking about that until a few months later.
Fyütch: Oh yes, she’s talking about “I Am Love, I Am Light.” That was our first official daddy-daughter collaboration. We recorded it when Aura was 5 years old. Her voice was still getting stronger, so we waited for her to mature a bit more and build her skills. When you listen to the album, you can hear her voice develop from song to song, with longer verses and more complicated rhythms and melodies. Some songs she’s just repeating after me, other songs she has whole verses and choruses. It’s been such a beautiful process. Originally, I approached this album as a solo project featuring a few daddy-daughter songs, but once we released the first 2 singles, it was pretty obvious that Aura and my fans were ready for an entire collaboration project.
Rockmommy: How did you write the song “Harmony?” Do you sit down and jam? Brainstorm lyrics?
Aura: Mostly both, but we took time to think about it. It took us a pretty long time to make it.
Fyütch: “Harmony” began as a commission for Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts to create three original songs for ages 2-7. This was the first concept I presented to them. I started with the chords, and the lyrics came to me pretty quickly after that. I did take some time to fine tune the production with my friend and keyboardist Deaunna Hawkins, and Aura helped write her verse. I’m extremely proud of it. Easily one of my favorites in my discography and really honored that the American Songwriter Contest and International Songwriting Contest awarded us first place in the Children’s category.
Rockmommy: What is the most important message you hope to impart from the album?
Aura: To work together in harmony and unity and be kind to each other. And treat people how you want to be treated.
Fyütch: Self-love and self-expression are the main themes! Showing up as your authentic self, trying new things, making friends, and making memories with your family.
Rockmommy: The collection boasts an all-star lineup of guest artists from family music and beyond — of all ages! How did you figure out who would take part in this recording?
Fyütch: The first feature we got was VanVan on the song “My Daddy.” In my 25 years of making music, 6-yea-old VanVan is the biggest artist I’ve ever been on a song with haha! She is such a superstar! I saw her viral rap videos on social media and reached out to her father Reggie. We immediately hit it off, and I consider them family.
We connected right before her performance at the BET Awards and cameo on Abbot Elementary. Her family keeps her so grounded and I respect how they are as a unit. All the collaborations on this album are genuine friendships beyond the music. Mega Ran and I crossed paths years ago when I was making experimental electronic Hip-Hop, and later reconnected when he started making Children’s music. We bring such a unique energy to this space. Kailtin Becker is my GIRL! High-key a celebrity from her Meekah days. One of the most talented people I know. Superstar Divinity Roxx will probably be on every album I make. Genevieve Goings is family! Also a straight up celebrity. Her verse on “The Greatest Song Ever?” Timeless record right there.
Rockmommy: What’s next for this summer? Do the two of you have shows you’re playing or cool events in the near future?
Aura: Yes we are going to Las Vegas this summer to perform at libraries in July. And 2e are going to do a few shows in Florida.
Fyütch: This is such a packed summer. I’m so excited! Usually I have to leave Aura for my bigger summer concerts, but now we are doing a lot of them together! Our album release concert is June 8th at ShapeShifter in Park Slope, Brooklyn. We are performing at Orlando libraries June 12-17. Las Vegas July 30 and 31. North Carolina Museum of Art August 23, and a few other fun ones announcing soon. I always ask her, “Girl, do you know how big of a deal this is?!” She just shrugs it off. This is her normal.

One of my favorite things to see is a man being a good dad to his kids. That’s what the world needs more of.
